Mícheál Pádraig is Noirín’s youngest son. A music graduate from University College Cork, Mícheál also specialized in Ethnomusicology at M.A. level at the University of Limerick, where he also became Entertainment Officer for the college of more than 14,000 students. His singing style ranges from Gregorian chant through Irish traditional and to Classical. Mícheál is also a rap performer with Size2Shoes, a band which includes his older brother Eoin.
Singing in choirs from an early age at Glenstal Abbey School has given Mícheál a unique voice and songwriting talent. An expert in ‘Human beatbox’ techniques, a form of vocal percussion associated with the tradition of Hip Hop, Mícheál’s array of musical styles is vast, and growing.
Mícheál is also a regular performer with several musical groups. Concerts of note include several international dates with AMEN (a vocal trio whose début album has just been released), singer & percussionist with The Chieftains at the Belfast Festival at Queens 2007, performing with violinist Nigel Kennedy, and singing with actor Russell Crowe at a Richard Harris Memorial in Kilkee in 2006.
Mícheál also studies the growth and style of Irish rap music in the south-west of Ireland and also harbours hopes of being a professional stand up comedian. Mícheál is indeed a new-day renaissance man.
