Nóirín Ní Riain with the Monks of Glenstal Abbey & Sinéad O’Connor
Ní Riain goes and pulls of the remarkable feat of sounding years younger than Sinéad O’Connor. Granted it is her forte, but neither is she a mere technician; the combination of a pure crystal clarity and the warmth in her timbre and delivery is like sunshine passing through glass. When the two combine on Regina Caeli, the effect is ethereal; when Ní Riain takes the melody and rises above O’Connor’s line – well, its more than enough for me.
